The Sandusky Library is excited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House with special festivities throughout the day on Wednesday, July 1st from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. A special dedication and unveiling ceremony for the new Ohio Historical Marker will take place on the front lawn of the museum at 1:00 P.M.
In the evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., the public is invited to view artwork and meet many of the artists as a part of a special community art show inspired by the Follett House and community. *See below for more information on being a part of this first-ever community art show.
Throughout the day the Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House will be open for both guided or self-guided tours, we’ll be giving out hand-held American flags, patriotic hand fans, and celebration wands for kids – while supplies last. There will also be light refreshments, a scavenger hunt, and passive activities during the day as well. Come see the Follett House adorned for the festivities and immerse yourself in the hundreds of stories that make up the rich history of this exciting region. History happens here.

The Follett House has stood since at least 1837. During that time, it has served as a home, Work Progressive Administration offices, Home Economics classes, Nursing School, and since 1976, a museum. Join us as we unveil the Ohio Historical Marker to tell the story of the Follett House and the Follett’s.

To help kick off the new era of the Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House, we are holding a reception to open a special community art show! We invite both artists and art lovers to come to the first day of our art show. Refreshments will be served.
Community Art Opening & Reception
Calling all artists! To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sandusky Library operating the Follett House, we are holding a Sandusky History Museum Community Art Show in the newly christened Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House. Our hope is artwork will be inspired by the Museum, the surrounding community, and/or the history of the region.
- Artists can be any age and any skill level.
- Artwork can be a painting, mix-media, a photograph, a drawing, digital graphics, or a sculpture.
- Artwork can be up to 11" x 14" in size.
- Artwork must be dropped off at the Sandusky Library by 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 19th.
The Library is offering a free 11" x 14" canvas (one per person and while supplies last) to anyone interested in using it as a part of the art show. * Canvases can be picked up at the Readers Desk in the Library or at the Museum on Saturday's from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Artwork will be displayed throughout July at the Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House and in August at the Sandusky Library. A special Artists’ Opening & Reception, open to the public, family, and friends, will be held on Wednesday, July 1st from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Sandusky History Museum at the Follett House with music, light refreshments, and fun.
